1. Introduction
ClearNord AS operates the website clearnord.no. This cookie statement explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which ones we use, why we use them, and what choices you have.
This statement works in conjunction with our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
The declaration reflects our commitments under the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act (ekomloven), the Personal Data Act, and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website.
They can help a website remember information like your cookie choices, language preferences, session information, or other settings.
Similar technologies, such as local storage, session storage, tracking pixels, and analytics scripts, can function in similar ways. When we use the term «cookies» in this statement, we mean cookies and similar technologies, unless the context dictates otherwise.
3. Our approach to cookies
ClearNord uses as few cookies and tracking technologies as possible.
We do not the following:
Uses cookies for advertising
Using marketing pixels
Tracks you across other websites
Selling or sharing cookie data with advertisers
Using cookie walls
Using analysis for behavioral profiling
Setting non-essential cookies before consent is given, where consent is required
You can use clearnord.no with only strictly necessary cookies enabled.
4. Categories of cookies and similar technologies
We use Matomo Analytics, which is self-hosted in ClearNord's WordPress environment on clearnord.no, to understand basic website usage and improve content, user-friendliness, and technical operation.
Matomo records, among other things, page views, the time of the visit, referrer address, browser and device type, keywords used in the website's internal search, and visits to error pages (404). Matomo can also distinguish automated visits from AI bots. We kindly ask you not to enter personal information in the website's search field or in URLs.
Matomo is configured without cookies for analytics. IP addresses are masked by removing the last two bytes before the address is stored. Raw analytical data for individual visits and single actions are automatically deleted after 12 months. Aggregated statistical reports, which do not show individual visits, are retained for long-term comparisons.
Analysis data is not sent to Matomo Cloud or other external analytics services. Hostinger processes data solely as a provider of hosting and technical infrastructure. The data is not shared with third parties for their own purposes and is not transferred outside the EEA.
We do not use Matomo data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or tracking across other websites. You can opt out of Matomo analytics at any time via the control in the privacy statement.

Matomo is configured without cookies for analytics and therefore does not set analytical cookies such as _pk_id, _pk_ses, or _pk_ref. If you opt out of Matomo analytics in the privacy policy, the necessary first-party cookie mtm_consent_removed is stored to remember your choice. It is used exclusively to prevent further Matomo tracking.
If we add or remove cookies, analytics tools, embedded content, or third-party scripts, we will update this statement and, where required, ask visitors to reconsider their choices.

Matomo is software that ClearNord operates in its own web environment and is therefore not an external provider of analytics services. Matomo Cloud is not used, and analytics data is not sent to Matomo as an external service provider. Hostinger processes data on behalf of ClearNord to the extent necessary to provide hosting and technical infrastructure.
MailerLite forms use technical scripts to display and submit the forms. MailerLite is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. For more information about the processing of form data, subscription information, and mailing data, see our privacy policy.
Cal.eu is used exclusively for scheduling. Meetings are held via Microsoft Teams.
We do not embed Cal.eu, Microsoft Teams, videos, maps, chat modules, LinkedIn tracking, or advertising tools on clearnord.no unless this statement is updated and necessary consent has been obtained in advance.
7. Legal basis
The use of cookies and similar technologies is regulated by Section 3-15 of the Electronic Communications Act and the consent requirements in GDPR.
For strictly necessary cookies, we rely on the exception for storage or access that is technically necessary to deliver the service expressly requested by the user.
For any non-essential cookies or similar technologies that require consent, we base the processing on your consent.
For the processing of personal data related to website operation and security, our legal basis under GDPR may include legitimate interest in operating and securing the website.
For the processing of personal data through the self-hosted Matomo analytics, we rely on legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation. Our interest is to understand the basic usage of clearnord.no and to improve the website's content, user-friendliness, and technical operation.
The processing is limited by the fact that Matomo is self-hosted, analytics cookies are disabled, IP addresses are masked with two bytes, raw data is deleted after 12 months, and the data is not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, or tracking across other websites. You can object to the processing at any time by opting out of Matomo analytics.
The mtm_consent_removed cookie is necessary to remember an explicit opt-out and is not used for analytics.
8. How to manage your choices
You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time by using the cookie preferences link in the footer of clearnord.no.
You can also opt out of Matomo analytics at any time by using the control under «Opt out of Matomo analytics» in our privacy policy. The opt-out applies to the browser and device you are using. If you clear your browser data or use a different browser or device, you may need to opt out of the analysis again.
If non-essential cookies are introduced in the future, the consent tool will allow you to accept or reject them by category where required.
You can also manage cookies in your browser's settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, it may affect the website's functionality, including whether the site can remember your cookie choices.
9. International data transfers
ClearNord’s website and the self-hosted Matomo installation are operated in the web environment provided by Hostinger on a server in Germany. Matomo Cloud is not used. Analytics data is stored and processed within the EEA and is not transferred outside the EEA. Complianz documentation regarding cookie preferences is stored locally on the website. Cal.eu is used as an external link for meeting scheduling, and Microsoft Teams is used to conduct the meetings themselves.
Some suppliers may be part of international groups, or involve support or technical access from locations outside the EEA. If personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards in accordance with Chapter V of the GDPR, such as adequacy decisions, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable, or other legal mechanisms.
MailerLite Limited is established in Ireland, and MailerLite states that data for the new service is stored in the Netherlands. Any further processing or access outside the EEA is handled as described in the privacy policy and MailerLite's data processing agreement.
