Privacy and Information Security

Language Act
The Language Act sets requirements for, among other things, clear and correct language and regulates public bodies' responsibilities for Bokmål, Nynorsk, and other languages covered by the act.
The law does not impose a general obligation to translate content into all minority languages.
The Interpretation Act
The Interpreters Act applies to the use of interpreters in the public sector. It does not regulate ordinary written document translation.
The business must therefore be able to distinguish between written translation, multilingual guidance, and situations where communication requires an interpreter.
Upcoming Norwegian AI law
Norway is working to implement the EU's AI regulation through the EEA Agreement and Norwegian law. Businesses can prepare by mapping their AI use, responsibilities, risk levels, competence, and necessary documentation.
