GDPR and Data Protection
ClearNord's Approach to Data Protection
ClearNord AS is committed to protecting personal data and complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as implemented in Norway through the EEA Agreement.
Data protection is built into ClearNord's design decisions from the outset. Even at the pre-operations stage, ClearNord follows the principles of lawfulness, fairness, transparency, data minimization, and accountability.
GDPR Scope
At launch, ClearNord's website functions as an informational landing page. Operational translation services, document uploads, and user accounts are not yet available.
At this stage:
- ClearNord acts as a data controller for limited personal data processed through the website
- No customer documents or translation content are processed
- No automated decision-making or profiling takes place
Future services will be introduced only subject to appropriate legal, technical, and organizational safeguards.
GDPR Principles
ClearNord aligns its data protection practices with the core GDPR principles:
- Lawfulness, fairness, and transparency
- Purpose limitation
- Data minimization
- Accuracy
- Storage limitation
- Integrity and confidentiality
- Accountability
These principles guide both current website operations and future service development.
Roles and Responsibilities
When ClearNord launches operational services:
- ClearNord may act as a data processor on behalf of public-sector or organizational clients
- In some contexts, ClearNord may act as a data controller, depending on the service model
Roles will be clearly defined in contractual agreements, including Data Processing Agreements, prior to processing any customer data.
Security and Risk Management
ClearNord applies a risk-based approach to information security and data protection.
Measures are designed to:
- Prevent unauthorized access or disclosure
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity
- Support auditability and procurement requirements
Technical and organizational measures will evolve as services are launched and scaled.
Transparency and Data Subject Rights
ClearNord respects the rights of individuals under the GDPR.
